Tatin, one of Sugar Rush Lab’s customers, wanted a cupcake with a crunch. “Something like Ferrero,” she said, referring to Ferrero Rocher, those wondrous little balls of chocolatey goodness.
How can you not love Ferrero Rocher? A whole roasted hazelnut + hazeulnut cream + thin wafer shell + milk chocolate + chopped hazelnuts = LOVE.
We were excited about making the cupcakes but knew we needed a plan. Ferrero Rocher is one of our favorite chocolates so we knew our cupcake had to do it justice. We actually have a notebook with sketches and diagrams of this cupcake.
One crazy Sunday, we began testing recipes. We ended up with 12 different kinds of Ferrero Rocher cupcakes and held a taste test. After cupcake # 5, our vision began to blur. We decided to call for back-up.
Three friends came over and helped us continue the tests.

But here’s the craziest part.
Giff took home four cupcakes from that evening. His plan was to sell it to people at his office. Did the cupcakes make it there?
No. Because Giff ate all four cupcakes one after the other.
Again, Giff ate ALL FOUR cupcakes one after the other.
Then he posted this on Facebook: “This cupcake is deadly. Very. Deadly.”
Yes, these cupcakes are deadly. Deadly good.
